Situated in Edinburgh's West End, Whighams Wine Cellar is fast gaining popularity as one of the most pioneering jazz venues in the Scottish capital.

Whighams offers a cool, modern and comfortable setting, and a new state of the art Bose PA system, which brings the best out of singers and musicians alike; this combination make it one of the best places to enjoy a relaxed musical evening in the city.

Currently, Whighams hosts a weekly jazz jam and open mic session on Sunday evening starting at 7.30pm and running till 11.30pm. The evening regularly attracts audiences of 60 - 80, and a terrific line up of professional and amateur singers and musicians, soaking up the club-like atmosphere of the event.

The format sticks to the tried and tested piano/bass/drums formula, but with a different host each week - either a singer or a horn player - organising the evening's entertainment.

And for those looking for more than music and fine wines to sustain them, Whighams reputation for offering excellent food, particularly seafood and tapas-style sharing platters, means that a casual dinner during the evening may well be the icing on the (fish)cake!

We'd love to get your news, views, opinions and suggestions. Moreover, if you have any friends who may not yet know about the session, and they're looking for a place to perform, then please tell them to come on down.
