Whighams wine tasting club

Whether you want to take your first steps into the wonderful world of wine, increase an already impressive knowledge, or just taste some damn fine wines, from novice to know-it-all, everyone is welcome to join.
Blossoming from a desire from our customers to learn, and our wish to share our passion, Whighams Wine Wednesday is fast becoming the best way in Edinburgh to increase your enjoyment of wine.
Regular tasting, invitation to wine trade events, wine fairs, and dinners are all part of the exciting events involved in the club.
We promise a little bit of learning, a reasonable amount of wine, and a lot of fun at these events - without being lectured to by a wine bore!

Below we will keep you up-to-date with all our up-and-coming events.

Good afternoon wine fans.
Well, plenty has been happening at Whighams over the last couple of weeks. Our first wine maker event is under our belt and featured some fantastic wines from the Yarra Valley in Victoria.
The next Whighams Wine Club is on Wednesday the 21st and is a cracker. We are featuring wines from Jaboulet, one of the biggest and best producers in the Rhone Valley. Without wanting to boast, I had the pleasure of spending last week travelling around wine regions in France, including the Rhone Valley, and was blown away by Jaboulet. Not only was the range of wines faultless and stunning, the place itself is awe inspiring. Built into an old quarry, the tasting facilities and barrel hall sit overlooking the river, and afforded me what is truly one of the most unique tasting experiences I have enjoyed. I will bring pictures.
Both Mike and a representative from the company that imports Jaboulet into the UK will guide you through 7 wines with nibbles, to demonstrate the different varieties and styles the Rhone is capable of: tasting wines from the north of the Rhone to the south.
Interest in this event is already quite strong (amongst the wine trade as well), and as always tickets will be sold on a first-come basis.

We will be offering a 10% discount on case purchases on the night.
The tasting will commence at 7 and finish at roughly 8:30.
£15 for non-members
£10 for members.
For a ticket please email, or call Whighams on 0131 225 8674 and ask for Mike or Fraser.

New Zealand Trade Tasting
As mentioned in my previous email, the NZ trade tasting is on the 7th of Oct at Prestonfield House. As with most trade tastings, it runs during the day, however I have managed to score a very limited number of tickets to the consumer event for Wine Club Members in the afternoon/early evening. Please email me if you are keen on attending.

Whighams Wine Fair
4th November: 5:30 – 8:00pm
On the 4th of November we are holding our first ever wine fair. We have invited all of our suppliers to showcase a selection of their hottest wines for you to try. Discounts on case buys will be offered on the night, so a great opportunity to stock up for all those Christmas parties. Tickets are free, but bookings are essential.
